You can substitute milk for the yogurt or add a flavored yogurt. Also, this traditional European breakfast is high in fiber and it should come as no surprise that it aids the digestive system. This is based on a recipe from the Santa Monica restaurant Rockenwagner.
2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
2 cups yogurt, skim milk
2 cups granny Smith apple - grated
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup hazelnuts - chopped
1/4 cup raisins
Combine all ingredients in a very large bowl and toss until evenly moistened. Cover and refrigerate overnight, then serve with berries if desired.
